If you shoot in any mode other than full manual, make sure you’re using the right Metering Mode for landscape photography. Most cameras use a Multi Metering mode by default, which averages out the whole image. While this might make sense for something like portraits, it does not work well for landscapes. This is because the “right” exposure in landscape photography is as bright as possible without blowing out the highlights, regardless of how the shadows look. This is why you want to use Highlig
