Actress Rachel Weisz didn't return to play Evie, adventurer Rick O'Connell's equally capable wife, in 2008’s The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor. That came as a big surprise to many people at the time, as playing Evie in The Mummy and The Mummy Returns is what launched Weisz's career from mostly unknown into the Hollywood A-list.

There have been talks about The Mummy 4 happening with Brendan Fraser, and Rachel Weisz could return too even though she was recast in The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor.

While Weisz went on to appear in the film’s blockbuster sequel, The Mummy Returns, she wasn’t in the 2008 franchise finale, The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Empire — reportedly, due to the fact that the movie would have required her character to age too drastically.
