Jul 2, 2020 · Adaptive on the other hand is a "set and forget" option which is supposed to adjust automatically the charge rate. What I usually do is: charge the laptop until 100%, disconnect it, use it until 20% or so and charge it again. I never use it while charging and I don't charge it unless it hits 20%. Which charging mode would you suggest?

As far as the notification goes, I only get an "Adaptive Charging" notification when it's active. It doesn't seem to activate immediately upon charging (although sometimes I see it after just a few minutes of charging).

If you set a morning alarm, the adaptive charge will set to reach 100% right at your alarm time. This is great tech for improving battery longevity!! Adaptive Charging only works as per conditions specified by Google: When you charge your phone after 9 PM, with an active alarm set for 5–10 AM, your phone uses Adaptive charging Adaptive Charging charges at full speed until 80%. However it does not stop charging. It continues charging at a rate of ~0.5-1W. This explains observation (1) above.

Lithium ion batteries wear down more quickly when fully charged or discharged. By limiting the amount of time that it stays fully charged, the useful life of the battery should be extended.
