Aug 24, 2002 · The pale tail is definitely interesting - the Long-Legged Buzzard Buteo rufinus having the pale tail with no barring, and being of pale rust colour (in the adult). The tail of the immature bird is pale grey/brown, whereas the Rough-Legged Buzzard Buteo lagopus has, at least, the stark white tail with the quite distinct black barring.
