Mokoliʻi (pronounced [mokoˈliʔi]), also known as Chinaman's Hat, is a basalt islet in Kāneʻohe Bay, Hawaii. Mokoliʻi is part of Kualoa Regional Park and located 1 ⁄ 3 mile (0.54 km) offshore of Kualoa Point, Oahu .

His 1983 painting—now valued at $60,000 (with reprints available for as much as $300)—takes you under the sea where Howell reveals a giant Chinese man resting on the ocean floor, the island as his hat.

Nov 6, 2024 · Mokoli’i Island is more commonly referred to as “Chinaman’s Hat,” due to its shape resemblance to a traditional Chinese hat. The islet sits directly offshore from Kualoa Regional Beach Park and can be easily accessed via kayak, standup paddleboard, swimming, or even walking if timed at low tide.
