DigiDoc (Digital Document) is a family of digital signature- and cryptographic computing file formats utilizing a public key infrastructure. It currently has three generations of sub formats, DDOC - , a later binary based BDOC and currently used ASiC-E format that is supposed to replace the previous generation formats.

With the DigiDoc4 application included in the ID software, digital signing with a test ID-card, mobile-ID and Smart-ID fails, and when validating signatures given with test certificates, the status "Signature is unknown" is displayed as a result.

Updating the trusted list of certificates used for checking the validity of digital signatures was unsuccessful. Please check that your computer is connected to the Internet and you have the latest ID-software version installed.

The encrypted DigiDoc file format (ENCDOC-XML) is based on the international XML-ENC standard. CDOC files include an encrypted data file (XML document or another binary file (MS Word, Excel, PDF, RTF, etc), the recipient’s certificate, an encrypted key for decrypting the data file (so-called transport key) and other optional metadata.

Libdigidocpp is the C++ library for creating applications handling digital signatures, their creation and verification.

DDOC signing support in Digidoc4j was removed in 2018. Every signature contains the certificate, validity confirmation and the validity confirmation service certificate. All the EU member states' TL servers referred in the EU TSL.
