Just past the Wisconsin Dells in the city of Baraboo lies a splendid secret waiting just for you: Circus World, a marvelous museum replete with only the most spectacular sights, lights and delights! Gaze in wonder and marvel at your own pace as you travel through seven National Historic Landmark buildings in this historic, stupendous space.
History of Circus World
Circus World opened on July 1, 1959 and the property was transferred to the Wisconsin Historical Society, who continues to operate the museum today. The site has grown dramatically over the decades. In 1960, Charles Phillip “Chappie” Fox became director of the tiny Baraboo museum.
Parkinson Library & Research Center - Circus World
Circus World’s Robert L. Parkinson Library and Research Center is the world’s foremost research facility for circus history. The holdings document the history of the American circus from its inception in 1793 to the present day.
