Cara Hunter MLA (born 8 November 1995 [1]) is an Irish Social Democratic and Labour Party (SDLP) politician, currently serving as a Member of the Northern Ireland Assembly (MLA) for East Londonderry, a position she has held since 18 May 2020.

Cara Hunter was targeted in April 2022 when a fake video was created to look as if she was taking part in pornographic activity with a man and shared around in thousands of messages.

In her role as Deputy Mayor for Derry City and Strabane District Council focusing on enhanced well-being in rural constituencies and promoting mental health as a priority. She was later co-opted in 2020 as MLA for the East Derry constituency.
