32 votes, 83 comments. true. i wouldnt say real but they resemble some real life events like scp 049 resembles doctors used to wear suits to prevent themselves from getting the plague during medieval and 106 resembles a 'shell-shocked soldier' from ww2 so i guess they kinda take real life event features and turn them into their own fictional story

You could think of some "mysteries", like unexplained deaths or disappearing, folklore, like those UFOs they claimed to have seen back then. Maybe the people who believe that it really happened are foolish, but it's even more foolish to reject it altogether without any proof.

That's sort of the point of the format though, right? Or at least a reasonable side effect. The clinical tone, the non-extreme procedures, the constant striving for believability or at least authenticity; barring some of the more extreme entries, I can totally see someone believing that it might be true at least a little bit.

Oct 30, 2013 · As we gather more and more data on the higgs boson and top quark, it is becoming increasingly likely that our universe is a false vacuum. Whoever wrote SCP-319 probably knew about false vacuums, and so I applaud them for making an SCP about it. A real vacuum metastability event would most likely constitute a ZK-class reality failure event.

The chance for the Foundation to keep under the radar from the public eye is less than Area 51, where all personnel that are on-site has a military background and highly disciplined (which make them being very good at keeping secrets)

This is why my former classmates saying, “SCP iS fAke!” bothered me on two counts: It’s SCPs, plural, and saying they’re fake implies there are genuine ones in existence.

When I was in elementary school, I saw a picture of scp- 173, saying it was an alien being held captive in area 51. I was so scared and thought it was real, but eventually forgot it. I certainly don't believe that SCPs are real now, but i definitely thought SCP 173 was going to hunt me down and break my neck in 2nd grade.
