Oil and gas producer Talos Energy said on Monday it has named Shell executive Paul Goodfellow as its CEO, effective March 1. Goodfellow will succeed Talos' founder and long-time CEO Tim Duncan, who stepped down in August after serving more than 12 years as the U.

A new strategic plan for the Houston-based offshore oil producer, which lost two leaders in six months, is a top priority for the new CEO.

Goodfellow holds over 30 years of domestic and international experience in the oil and natural gas industry during a career starting in 1991 at Shell plc.

During his tenure at Shell, he held various senior executive roles, including leading the company’s global deepwater business in the US Gulf of Mexico, Brazil, West Africa, Malaysia, Mexico, the North Sea and other international areas. He also held positions overseeing Shell’s global drilling, completion and well intervention business.
