Parts of Wilkes County received more than a trace of snow for the first time since the winter of 2022 on Monday.

Members of the largest class in Wilkes Community College’s Basic Law Enforcement Training (BLET) program graduated in a ceremony on Dec. 16 at the John A. Walker Community Center.

Recipients of the latest to Wilkes Community College are Anna Zanon, Erika Hernandez, Aliyah Spicer and Lydia Mayes. Each received a $500 scholarship.

To make the list, a student with 12-14 hours of coursework needs a grade point average of at least 3.45 for the current semester. A student with 15 hours of coursework needs at least a 3.25 GPA.
