San Diego Wave’s new head coach Jonas Eidevall says he has “no relationship” with his United States Women counterpart Emma Hayes following their clash in England last year. After Eidevall’s Arsenal had beaten Hayes’ Chelsea in March’s Conti Cup final,

The Wave are expected to lean on a group of young stars that includes defender Naomi Girma, midfielder Jaedyn Shaw, forward Melanie Barcenas and a pair of French imports, Delphine Cascarino and Perle Morroni, who joined the club midway through last season.

The native of Borås, Sweden, 41, brings more than a decade of head coaching experience and a track record of success at the club level. With Arsenal Women, he led the club to three consecutive top-three finishes in the Women’s Super League (WSL).
