Jack Leiter struck out a career-high 10 in seven innings, Adolis García, Josh Jung and Cody Freeman each connected on a two-run homer and the Texas Rangers routed the Cleveland Guardians 10-0.

Since the Rangers hung football-worthy numbers on the scoreboard Saturday night, it’s fair to re-use former NFL coach Dennis Green’s famous tautology: the Rangers were who we thought they were in a 10-0 rout of the Guardians.

Player of the Game: While the young bats were slugging, Jack Leiter was shoving. Leiter had a career-high 10 strikeouts while allowing just two hits in seven shutout innings of work. Perhaps the most impressive thing for Leiter tonight was that he walked zero batters.

Joc Pederson hit a walk-off RBI double to give the Texas Rangers a 4-3 comeback win over the Cleveland Guardians on Friday night. Wyatt Langford, who hit a solo home run in the sixth, scored the tying run on Corey Seager’s single after hustling to second for an aggressive double to open the ninth inning.

The expectation was that Adolis Garcia would be activated and play for the Texas Rangers on Saturday. The only question was the corresponding move.

The Texas Rangers have placed second baseman Marcus Semien on the 10-day injured list for just the second time in his 13-year career with a left foot contusion and activated right fielder Adolis García.
