Widespread coral bleaching at Ningaloo Reef off Western Australia's coast has deeply alarmed scientists and conservationists.

A weak ridge extends over the north Queensland waters and will persist for the next few days, strengthening from Friday. A trough extends from the northern Peninsula across the Peninsula Coast waters.
