The Trump administration Thursday released a long-anticipated executive order on college sports, an attempt to provide federal guidance to the wild world of big money that has transformed collegiate athletics in recent years.
First, Murphy and Massachusetts Rep. Lori Trahan reintroduced the "College Athlete Economic Freedom Act," a bill that establishes federal rights for college athletes to market their name, image and likeness. The bill notably includes an allowance for international students to engage in NIL activity without losing their visa status.
The SCORE Act meets the NCAA’s demands and would prohibit student athletes from being recognized as college employees.
