Rough surf and strong winds from Hurricane Erin​ are battering beaches, and the storm is expected to cause major erosion.

More than a dozen Jersey Shore beaches were banning swimming as rip tides and rising tides from Hurricane Erin threaten swimmer safety.

Hurricane Erin is expected to bring dangerous surf at the Jersey Shore even as it stays off of the coast. Lifeguards are issuing renewed advice about what to do if you get caught in a rip current.
