Genesis Healthcare Inc. — an operator of skilled nursing and assisted living facilities — and its subsidiaries have filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy.

Omega Healthcare Investors' (NYSE:OHI) tenant, Genesis Healthcare, has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, the REIT that owns skilled nursing and assisted living facilities said on Thursday. Omega said in a business update that it has decided to commit $8M to fund 26.

Affiliates of Genesis’ investor ReGen Healthcare, a private equity firm, have entered into a deal to acquire Genesis, according to bankruptcy court documents.
