Tim Allen’s new ABC sitcom “Shifting Gears” is revving its ratings engine. According to ABC, the series now stands as the most-watched ABC series premiere on streaming to date, via first seven days of views on both Hulu and the Hulu portion of Disney+.

In the seven days since it debuted on January 8, the first episode has amassed nearly 17M multi-platform viewers across ABC, Hulu, Hulu on Disney+ and digital platforms, Disney says. That’s a 173% lift over the episode’s already fairly impressive same-day audience of 6.2M.

The premiere episode of Tim Allen's new sitcom 'Shifting Gears' now stands as the most-watched ABC streaming premiere to date.

Tim Allen and Kat Dennings are returning to the sitcom screen, this time as an estranged father-daughter duo. “ Shifting Gears ” premieres Wednesday, Jan. 8, at 8 p.m. ET on ABC. Watch the new series for free with a trial from Fubo or DIRECTV Stream. You can also watch it on Jan. 9, with a free Hulu trial or Hulu with the Disney Bundle.

The title and premise of Shifting Gears seem to be about, well, shifting gears in your life and your attitude, but the two episodes sent to critics suggest little interest in giving viewers anything other than exactly what they want and expect.

The series also stars Seann William Scott, Daryl Mitchell, Maxwell Simkins and Barrett Margolis. Jenna Elfman will be a recurring guest star.
