“This is a failure of the strength and conditioning program — an epic failure,” said Douglas J. Casa, chief executive of the Korey Stringer Institute at the University of Connecticut. “Somebody made a dramatic mistake in terms of how the workout was organized in terms of intensity, volume, recovery. Something was dramatically wrong.”

Five men’s lacrosse players at Tufts University remain hospitalized after a voluntary supervised 45-minute Navy SEAL-style workout left them with a dangerous condition called rhabdomyolysis.

Nine players were hospitalized with a rare and serious muscle condition known as rhabdomyolysis after training with a Navy SEAL graduate.
