Rich Dauer, an Orioles Hall of Famer who spent his entire 10-year MLB career in Baltimore and was the starting second baseman on the 1983 World Series championship team, has died, the team announced Monday.

From San Bernardino and Colton High, Dauer helped USC win two national titles before his 10-year MLB playing career.

“We mourn the passing of Orioles Hall of Fame second baseman Rich Dauer, who spent his entire 10-year career with the O’s,” the club posted on social media. “We send our deepest sympathies to the Dauer family as well as his many teammates and friends.”

Rich Dauer, an infielder who played a decade in the major leagues and won a World Series as a player with Baltimore and as a coach with the Houston Astros, has died at 72, the Orioles announced on Monday without denoting a cause of death.
