The tragic plane crash near Washington D.C.’s Reagan National Airport has brought renewed attention to ongoing safety concerns at one of the nation’s busiest air hubs.

IU alumna Asra Hussain was among the 67 people killed when a plane collided with an army helicopter Wednesday night near Washington, D.C.

A regional jet carrying 64 people collided in midair with a Black Hawk helicopter as the plane was approaching a runway at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport on Wednesday night.

John Donnelly, the chief of Washington's fire department, said at a news conference Thursday that 28 bodies have been found and efforts had shifted from "a search-and-rescue operation to a recovery operation.
