A winter storm is set to bring at least several inches of snow to the New York City area with some parts of northern New Jersey and Connecticut set up for more than six inches of snow. The snow is expected to start in New York City on Sunday morning.

Winter storm watches have been issued for eight counties in northern New Jersey as the state braces for a weekend storm system that could drop as much as 6 to 10 inches of snow in some areas and create dangerous road conditions across the region on Sunday.

On Friday at 2:43 p.m. a winter storm watch was issued by the National Weather Service valid for Sunday between 7 a.m. and 9 p.m. for Franklin, Perry, Dauphin, Lebanon, Cumberland, Adams, York and Lancaster counties.
