Asian shares were trading mostly lower Tuesday, despite a rally on Wall Street in stocks seen as benefiting the most from Donald Trump’s reelection as president. Japan's benchmark Nikkei 225 gained 0.

The S&P 500 rose 0.4% to cap its biggest weekly gain since early November 2023 and briefly crossed above the 6,000 level for the first time. The Dow Jones Industrial Average climbed 259 points, or 0.6%, while the Nasdaq composite added 0.1%.

Intel fell 2.9%, and chemical producer Dow sank 2.1% in their first trading since getting notified that they’ll no longer be included in the Dow. Warren Buffett’s Berkshire Hathaway fell 2.2% and was one of the heaviest weights on the market after reporting a drop in operating profit for the latest quarter.
