Iowa's state party officials say it was a mistake that the party's 2024 nominating calendar forced them to ditch the five-decade, first-in-the-nation caucus where community members publicly signal their support for a candidate.

In a survey released Thursday, the party asks past and future Democratic caucusgoers whether they think the Iowa caucuses should be first in the nation, as they were before the Democratic National Committee ended that tradition for the 2024 election.

Iowa Democrats are deciding whether they want to adhere to the national party’s rules or “go rogue” with a new push for a first-in-the-nation redux.
