Missing plane in Alaska: What we know about the Bering Air flight, search
The search continues Friday for a small plane that went missing in Alaska, with 10 people on board. The Bering Air flight was traveling from the village of Unalakleet to Nome when it was reported missing at around 4 p.m. local time Thursday, according to the Alaska Department of Public Safety, State Troopers.
Coast Guard: No survivors in crash of Bering Air plane with 10 aboard on ice near Nome
During a news conference at Nome City Hall Friday afternoon, Lt. Cmdr. Mike Salerno said a Coast Guard helicopter lowered two rescuers onto the sea ice. They identified three people inside the aircraft, and the rest are presumed to also be within the wreckage.
It is the third major air incident to have taken place in the US over the last 10 days.
