The Detroit Red Wings earned an impressive 2-0 shutout win over the Tampa Bay Lightning on Saturday night at Little Caesars Arena.
Both teams tightened up defensively in the second period, so scoring chances were more limited. The Red Wings did break the tie, however. Marco Kasper got open in front of the Lightning net and redirected a puck off the post and in at 9:55.

DETROIT – The Detroit Red Wings won a game for the ages Saturday – sort of. Their oldest and youngest players combined to lead them to a 2-0 victory over the Tampa Bay Lightning at Little Caesars Arena.
A redirection for rookie forward Marco Kasper was the only goal that beat either team’s goalie in Saturday’s 2-0 win for the Detroit Red Wings over the Tampa Bay Lightning. Kasper scored on a netfront deflection, the puck hitting the right post and finding the back of the Tampa Bay net for a 1-0 lead midway through the second period.
The Red Wings (23-21-5, 51 points) have won back-to-back games, both with Talbot in net. Talbot is 7-1-0 in his past eight starts. The one loss was a 5-1 setback at Tampa Bay Jan. 18 when he was pulled after two periods.
