OTTAWA — Former Bank of Canada governor Mark Carney used an interview on U.S. late-night television on Monday to attack Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre and make his case for the Liberal leadership.

There were a few problems with Carney’s Daily Show appearance, however, and they had much less to do with what he said than where and to whom he said it.

Jon Stewart addressed the ongoing fires in Los Angeles, as well as the varied responses to the disaster, on a new episode of The Daily Show. The late-night host specifically took aim at Republicans, who have called for strings to be attached to the relief funds.

During moments of ‘The Daily Show’s’ post-inauguration episode, Stewart’s humor was tinctured with a certain malaise.
