The massive tax and spending cut bill that Congress passed Thursday ends federal tax incentives for electric vehicles.

It is the end of the line for U.S. electric vehicle tax credits. Sweeping tax and budget legislation approved by Congress on Thursday means $7,500 tax credits for buying or leasing new electric vehicles will end on September 30,

Nissan is recalling more than 480,000 vehicles in the U.S. and Canada because of manufacturing defects that could cause the engine to lose power while in use.In a recall notice posted with the the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration,

Nissan said in its announcement that a failed engine can lead to a “loss of motive power" and increase the risk of a crash.

The recall covers certain Nissan Rogues and Altimas, as well as a number of Infiniti QX50s and Infiniti QX55s.
