Typhoon Danas has brought heavy winds and torrential rains to parts of Taiwan, killing two people and injuring more than 300 on the island’s densely populated west coast

Most typhoons come ashore on the island’s sparsely populated east coast, but Danas scraped its crowded western edge. Nearly 300,000 households had no power on Monday.

Typhoon Danas (locally named “Bising” in the Philippines) battered Taiwan’s west coast early Monday, killing two people, injuring hundreds and leaving nearly 400,000 households without electricity, authorities said.
