WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) - The City of Wilmington has unanimously appointed Ryan Zuidema as the new police chief. The position has been filled after the retirement of Chief Donny Williams on June 27. 45 people applied for the position, but Mayor Bill Saffo says they were looking for certain qualities.

Michael Trail, who is currently Lansdale’s chief of police, will begin his tenure as Norristown’s top cop Nov. 3.

Two Utah police officers were killed and a third was injured along with his service dog when they were fired upon by a suspect inside a home while responding to a domestic disturbance Sunday night. The shooting unfolded in Tremonton, about 70 miles north of Salt Lake City, Brigham City Police Chief Chad Reyes said at a news conference Monday.

According to Chief Jeff Middleton, Keith was seen aggressively swinging his arms at the juvenile’s vehicle leaving the scene, and when officers stopped the vehicle to investigate what turned out to be a traffic dispute, Keith pulled up to the scene shouting and causing a disruption.
