India's benchmark indices, Sensex and Nifty, rallied on Friday, with Sensex gaining over 450 points and Nifty surpassing 23,400. L&T surged by 4.4 per cent after announcing record new orders, contributing significantly to the rise.

Indian equity benchmarks, Sensex and Nifty 50 opened marginally higher ahead of the Economic Survey 2025, and tracking gains in global markets. Optimism is also brewing as investors look for potential catalysts in the upcoming Union Budget. Construction, IT, and auto stocks steered the rally, while financials and metals weighed on the benchmarks.

The trends on Gift Nifty also indicate a mildly positive start for the Indian benchmark index. The Gift Nifty was trading around 23,438 level, a premium of nearly 20 points from the Nifty futures’ previous close.

The 30-share BSE benchmark Sensex jumped 740.76 points or 0.97 per cent to close at 77,500.57. The NSE Nifty opened in the green and surged 258.90 points or 1.11 per cent to end at 23,508.40.​​
