Zelenskiy, Moldova's Sandu discuss Ukrainian coal to ease Transdniestria energy crisis
(Reuters) -Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy and Moldovan President Maia Sandu on Wednesday discussed using Ukrainian coal to ease the energy crisis which has subjected Moldova's separatist Transdniestria region to blackouts and a heating shortage.

Presidents of Ukraine and Moldova Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Maia Sandu agreed in a telephone conversation on 8 January to coordinate joint actions to address the energy shortage in the breakaway Transnistria region.

Moldovan President Maia Sandu has accused Gazprom of exacerbating an energy crisis in Transdniestria, as power cuts plague the region. The situation stems from Ukraine halting gas transit, while discussions between Moldovan and Ukrainian leaders explore alternative solutions to maintain energy supplies.
