Gonsolin hasn't pitched in the majors since August 2023 due to a series of injuries, including Tommy John surgery at the end of that season, which sidelined him for the Dodgers' World Series-winning 2024 campaign. He returned to the team healthy before suffering a back injury while lifting weights ahead of the 2025 season.

“It’s something as an organization that we’ve been trying to wrap our heads around, because it’s not a good quality of life for anybody,” Dodgers pitching coach Mark Prior said. “It’s not for the players who suffer the injuries. It doesn’t help us operate at an optimal level as a ballclub.”

The Los Angeles Dodgers put starting pitcher Tyler Glasnow on the 15-day injured list Monday, one day after he lasted just one inning before being pulled with right shoulder discomfort. The Dodgers said Glasnow was diagnosed with shoulder inflammation.
