Saturday’s 96th parade celebrating the Black community shows the “longevity of the African American family and the support systems that the communities provide,” one regular parade-goer said.

Nicknamed “The Bud,” the parade has been a back-to-school celebration and showcase for Chicago’s talented young people since 1929.

Thousands of people are expected in the Bronzeville neighborhood to take part in the parade, including music, dancing, and food.
