The Dallas Wings pulled off a surprise win Monday night, taking down the defending WNBA champions, the New York Liberty, 92–82. Leading the way was Arike Ogunbowale, who delivered a career-defining performance that rewrote the franchise record books.

Arike Ogunbowale set a new career-high with 14 assists as the Dallas Wings defeated the New York Liberty on Monday night.

Jonquel Jones had 18 points for the Liberty (17-8), who were playing without Breanna Stewart because of a right leg injury and lost their second straight.

Ogunbowale went off in the first half of Monday’s matchup by putting up a 15-point, 10-assist double-double in the opening half. The four-time All-Star was able to make WNBA history with her strong performance in the first two quarters of play.

The Wings, after building up a 30-point lead, held on to grab a 92-82 win over the Liberty in Arlington, Texas, on Monday night. It marked New York’s second straight dropped game, following a loss at the buzzer to the Los Angeles Sparks on Saturday.

WNBA legend Rebecca Lobo was also watching the matchup intently. What caught the attention of the Hall of Fame center was the incredible performance of Wings star Arike Ogunbowale.
