Slaggert put the Blackhawks ahead 2-1 at 18:14 with a snap shot from the top of the left circle off a drop pass from Lukas Reichel. Slaggert was playing his first NHL game of the season, having been recalled from Rockford of the American Hockey League on Sunday.

Connor Bedard scored from a seemingly impossible angle, Arvid Soderblom stopped 34 shots and the Chicago Blackhawks beat the Tampa Bay Lightning 4-1.

There was just under two minutes left in the period when Slaggert scored and they took that 2-1 lead into the third. There, Ryan Donato scored one off a Seth Jones shot that bounced right to him off the end board. Once Teuvo Teravainen made it 4-1 with an empty netter, the game was sealed.
