Researchers identified the likely planetary candidate’s infrared light after blocking out its host star’s overwhelming glare

The James Webb Space Telescope has discovered an exoplanet using the direct-imaging technique. The host star's light was blocked using a coronagraph to reveal a planet to its right. The light at the star's far left is an unrelated star.

The James Webb telescope has captured some seriously cool direct images of a planet beyond our solar system. This is the telescope's first exoplanet discovery.
