As a result of the victory, the Dodgers are now tied with the Padres for the NL West Division lead. Clayton Kershaw limited the Padres' offense, allowing just two hits (one a home run) while striking out three in six innings on the mound.
Freddie Freeman homered in back-to-back innings, rookie Dalton Rushing hit a tiebreaking three-run homer in the seventh and the Los Angeles Dodgers evened the NL West race once again with an 8-2 victory over the San Diego Padres.
