The Johnson County Board of Supervisors took the first steps Wednesday in a process that will create districts for their representation of the county, as is now required by a bill signed into law last week by Gov.

Johnson, Story and Black Hawk counties — home to Iowa's three public universities — must begin electing supervisors by district rather than at large.

Senate File 22 will prohibit drivers in Iowa from using cellphones or electronic devices while driving except in hands-free or voice-activated mode. It takes effect July 1.
