The Gypsy Hill Park bandstand in Staunton will be hopping Mondays through Thursdays this summer with free concerts for the family.

Hailing from Goleta, California, Coventry studied violin from an early age. At 12 he heard a recording of Stephane Grappelli and was determined to learn the swinging style of gypsy jazz violin.

Some 20 years ago, when a musical group known as Bleu Django formed, it needed a bit of a support system to form as well. Violinist Carolyn Dutton of Nashville remembers.
