The Brazoria County Sheriff’s Office had this to say: We are deeply saddened to share the loss of Deputy Jesus Vargas, who faithfully served the Brazoria County Sheriff’s Office for 17 years.

Robert Lee Davis was shot and killed by law enforcement officers hours after he shot and killed a Brazoria County deputy.

Officers opened fire after Davis shot the dog, authorities said. Vargas was married and had three children, Brazoria County Sheriff Bo Stallman, said.
