A strong earthquake centered in San Diego County gave Southern California a rattle on Monday morning. According to preliminary reports from the U.S. Geological Survey, the quake measured a magnitude of 5.2; that number may change as the USGS gathers more accurate data.

An earthquake with a 5.2 preliminary magnitude was reported near Julian, California on April 14, according to the U.S. Geological Survey. Several aftershocks of lesser magnitudes were also reported in the area located roughly 60 miles northeast of San Diego,
