We don’t know what is causing these glued-on parts to fall or fly off, but it’s alarming. Ultimately, it comes down to two things: Tesla used the wrong adhesive or misused the correct adhesive. Whatever the case, Tesla's quality control standards might be a little questionable.

According to the March 18 regulatory notice, a large strip of stainless steel exterior trim can potentially “delaminate and detach from the vehicle” while on the road. A total of 46,096 Cybertrucks now qualify for the free in-shop repair.

This is the eighth recall the stainless-clad vehicle has collected in the mere two years it’s been on the road. But unlike many of its previous offenses, this is one of the first significant body repairs that can’t be addressed with a simple over-the-air update.
