Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has said animal fat was used to make Tirupati laddoos under the previous government run by the YSR Congress. The YS Jagan Mohan Reddy-led party has rubbished the allegation and termed it malicious.

The Hindu reported that the lawyers of YSRCP have sought an investigation either by a sitting judge or a court-appointed committee into the allegations by the Telugu Desam Party (TDP).

A controversy broke after Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu accused the previous YSRCP government of using substandard ingredient like animal fat to make the sweets offered at the ancient Sri Venkateshwar temple at Tirumala.

Naidu alleged that the previous YSRCP government compromised the Sri Venkateswara temple by using substandard ingredients and animal fat in the Tirupati laddus.

A report by a private laboratory has revealed that the samples of the ghee used in making Tirupati laddoos contained foreign fat, including palm oil, fish oil, beef tallow and lard (obtained by rendering the fatty tissue of a pig).

Andhra Pradesh's ruling Telugu Desam Party has criticized the YSR Congress Party for the use of ghee containing animal fats in the preparation of laddoos offered as prasad at the Tirupati Temple. A report from the Centre of Analysis and Learning in Livestock and Food—part of the National Dairy Development Board in Gujarat—confirmed the presence of animal fat in the ghee used for the famous Tirupati laddoos during the YSRCP's governance,
