Washington County first responders learn more about $24M upgrade to communications system

“You could be responding to Washington County from a neighboring county and be able to do it with one radio.” Another hot topic was cost. “When we updated to the current radio system, we individually had to get a grant for $50,000 to get our radio,” one first responder said.

New 911 radio coverage coming to Washington County

This new NG911 for 911 radios is an 800-megahertz system that will cover all of Washington County. "The system is a fully integrated system," Sherman said. "It’s going to work with not only all of Washington County, but Beaver, Butler, Westmoreland, as well, and Fayette. We’re the only county in the area that was not connected to the court system."
