The people of Traverse City are on the minds of Northeast Michigan residents after a mass stabbing at its Walmart injured 11 people on Saturday. Elected officials and residents in the area are still shocked at what unfolded on Saturday and express their concern for the victims and the Traverse City community.
"Regrettably, less than 24 hours after receiving this order, a tragic series of events occurred in Traverse City," the sheriff's office said.
Video footage from the incident shows bystanders confront the suspect after a stabbing rampage that initially left 11 people injured.
A Walmart employee was helping a customer check out when she heard a warning that someone in the store had a knife.
A 42-year-old man entered the Traverse City Walmart around 4:43 p.m. on Saturday and used a folding knife to stab five males and six females, according to the Grand Traverse County Sheriff's Office.
