The breakaway Moldovan region of Transnistria said Friday it was "counting" on Russia to help it overcome an unprecedented energy crisis sparked by Moscow halting gas supplies last week.
An energycrisis in Transnistria, a pro-Russian territory between Moldova and Ukraine, erupted on Jan. 1 when Moscow stopped supplying natural gas through a pipeline running across Ukraine.
"We are ready to assist Moldova, including with coal supplies," Zelenskyy said in his nightly video address after discussing the crisis with Sandu by telephone.
