In June of last year, Sony Pictures Entertainment announced it had acquired Alamo Drafthouse Cinema, the Austin-based theater chain known for its experiential-driven food and movie service, in a move that took many by surprise.

Alamo Drafthouse on Tuesday confirmed it laid off employees at the corporate and venue level as part of a business restructuring initiative.

Alamo Drafthouse has become the latest media company to endure a round of layoffs. The popular theater chain had company-wide downsizing on Tuesday. The move comes seven months after Alamo was acquired by Sony Pictures Entertainment.
