Ricky Starks has reportedly asked to be released from All Elite Wrestling, but that request has not been granted by CEO Tony Khan.

As of late, Starks hasn't wrestled on AEW television since the March 30th, 2024 episode of Collision. Instead, he has been making appearances for independent promotions like Game Changer Wrestling, Glory Pro, and House of Glory.

Ricky Starks has requested his AEW release, reports Ibou of WrestlePurists on the outlet's WWE Raw Review. While there is no word on when, exactly, Starks asked to be let go, AEW founder Tony Khan turned him down. Now, Starks is waiting out the remainder of his contract and attempting to stay relevant by working independent dates.
