As California Democrats prepare to try to redraw the state’s congressional maps in response to a Republican-led effort in Texas, a patchwork coalition is forming to stop them.

The California Governor said his state would redraw its congressional maps to “neutralize” any Republican gains from redistricting in Texas.

Governor Gavin Newsom plans to propose a mid-decade redistricting plan to counter Texas. This would be the first time in the country's history that a state has ever done a redistricting plan where they let voters decide.
